TBS6909X DVB-S2X & ACM/VCM

    tbs6909x DVB-S2X/S2 & ACM/VCM
    I am confused about this "TBS6909xChangeModeTool" ..I guess to change between S2/S2X!
    I think before that silabs demods can not handle DVB-S2X & ACM at the same time ?!
    if that is true so tbs6909x it will not be able to ACM & DVB-S2X at the same time ! but separately
    so you have to change always the mode and compare between two result of blindscan
    any way I don' know ..we can wait until some one try it :73:

    So I want to get some information by someone who has tested 6909-X V2 to capture BBFrames.


    I think I will choose TBS-6903-X as there is a bit more information about her Generic stream support.

  • The Digital Devices Max SX8 Pro also has the STID135 chip and I fear the same problems with the software.

    The company is not sure whether it works with Crazyscan, for example, and obviously nothing was known about the IQMonitor.

    With 6909x at 23.5E on mux 12646 V,285,7/8 you can lock, save, and listen to Radio Antenne Dusseldorf.

    It is amazing what our developer has done to highlight the potential of this card, which on Windows is below expectations.

    The speed with which it scans and finds muxes surpasses even the 6983 card.

    Thanks for your confidence about the tests I do with some TBS cards, but my opinions about them are those of an amateur and not a software connoisseur. The people most entitled to talk about DVB cards are the developers of our applications. They know from the inside how each hardware component of the cards we use works.

    That's why my opinion is to be taken with reserve, even more so if you want to buy some dvb card, say 6909x, which you intend to purchase.


    1. I don't have the 6904se card, but despite not having full support for BLScan, Carrier search, and Constellation function, it is a sound card for regular use. Its FEC display is no longer as crucial as most cards find it automatically.


    2. The FEC is displayed correctly on the 6909x card, but it must be considered that the FEC may change depending on the modulation used for generic streams that are multi-streams.


    3. Scanning with 6909x/6903x on transponders using the S2X extension does not pose a problem. Still, some parameters (FEC, mode, roll-off) are not displayed for several internal reasons, first of all, because of the algorithm used and/or because of the signal (power fluctuation, etc.).


    Below is an example of how Crazyscan works when it locks a signal and tries to determine the parameters used for this mux. At first glance, they may confuse us because the app finds two different modes and FEC, which are for DVB-S2, but RollOff indicates the presence of an S2X parameter, RollOff of 0.05.


    The StreamReader file also shows us the type of stream used, which can be confusing because, depending on the demodulator of the card, it can indicate the presence of a generic stream or DATA (transport) stream.

    Here is a brief description of how to display the parameters of a transponder with DVB applications using CrazyCat's library.


    3. CrazyCat's StreamReader works well with this card and Blindscan2. Of course, one can object to how the card works with dvb applications under Windows, especially the scanning speed.

    CrazyCat has dramatically improved its application since the release of the stid135 cards, but some things are no longer up to him but to the chip manufacturer.

    Here is a test with EBSpro with 6909x at 1.0W with BLScan. The scan is doing fine and displays the parameters correctly.

    It is important to remember that the signal should be as good as possible, i.e., strong. Like other DVB cards, the chances of finding and locking the signal increase.


    4. I use the first version of the 6909x card, which is identical to the V2 version. It does not do any more or less than the latest version.

    Both versions use the same driver version.


    As for what the neumoDVB app can do under Linux, I have written about it on other occasions. This time, I have to emphasize/repeat that these stid135 chip cards outperform all other dvb cards on the market in every aspect. Their use of this operating system is almost undeniable, even under Windows.


    This opinion has nothing to do with buying the 6909x card.

    Considering that many DVB card models with different hardware configurations can be used for TV/radio consumption, it is difficult to recommend such cards for those moving from regular program users to DX enthusiasts.

    The first contact with these cards and dvb applications may confuse these new users, but with patience and adaptation, they can reach a level of use close to what they want. With patience, they will understand how their applications work and the results will differ from when they started.


    But one thing is clear to me: Those who want to cross this threshold are nollens-vollens obliged/needed to choose cards with demod std135(i.e., 6903x/6909x) or those from Digital, which CrazyCat does not support.

    Until another dvb card comes out with a new chip (possibly Oxford 2), tbv6903x/6909x cards are unbeatable because they have hardware that most cards don't have.


    (I took the liberty of answering the questions our colleague asked me privately (excuse me) on this topic because, at the risk of the answer being wrong or incomplete, it covers exactly the issue of StiD135 chip cards.

    Any answer on this topic is welcome, as I think many users are looking for a card that will please them. I am not convinced that my opinions can be valid in every case, but I can hope that in confrontation with other users, the choice will be easier and hopefully convincing.)

    Auch einige FEC-Modalitäten fehlen.

    - Blindscan 2 (langsamer als bei der 6904SE)

    - Blindscan 1 (gewohnt langsam)

    - der BS-Mode und der DT-Mode funktionieren beide


    Alles im Zusammenhang mit EBS Pro und Crazycat funktioniert auch?
