I have lnb ka-band viasat tooway does it work on tbs cards

    Welcome to the forum.

I have the same dish (Prodelin/General Dynamics 3122) which is excellent for Ka. I have not managed to get the Viasat ODU to do very much. It has a solenoid to set the polarisation and some telemetry to control it. I'm not sure if it also needs a frequency reference for receive. You might be able to get it to work if you connect it to the modem to control it and split the RX feed to another receiver. I did not spend much time on it as there are much easier options like the Gilat ODUs.

1.2m Prodelin 3122 az-el (Not in use) with one of:
S: Helical feed, 0.8dB NF LNA, X: 1.2dB NF LNA, conical feed, Ku 12-18GHz: corrugated conical feed, 1.5dB NF LNA, Ku (Standard): SMW Q-PLL type C, Prodelin feed. Ku (Extended): 11.3GHz LO SMW & Prodelin Feed Ka: Gilat ex-ODU PLLs Gilat feeds, Ka 18-26.5GHz: Patriot feed, home made 4dB NF LNA, Ka DSN: Corrugated conical feed, 3dB NF Down-Converter

1.8m PF, Polar mount with Bullseye C120 LNB, Precision/Elite feed

Is there a way to operate this pickup

    Hi,

Get an IF splitter with one port DC/power pass, something like this:
    https://www.toolstation.com/proception-wid…splitter/p66100
Don't use one which as DC/Power pass to both ports.

Connect the modem TX output to the TX port on the ODU

Connect the modem RX input to the DC/Power pass output port
Connect the splitter input port to the RX port on the ODU
Connect your PC card or satellite box to the un-powered output port from the splitter

You may find that you don't need the TX connection. You will need to control polarisation using the modem. I don not know anything about the modem or how to operate it, hopefully you do or you have a manual.

The design of the electronics holder on that dish makes it very easy to fit other electronics. You just need to make sure that the new feed is at the focal point. Use the original feed position as a guide then adjust for best signal.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for the reply.

This LNB is intended for Eutelsat KaSat reception only. It has some differences, compared to standard LNBs for the Ka band. It is for circular polarization only. Eutelsat KaSat can only be received in the United Kingdom and Ireland. :51:

  • With a extra dielectric plate in the waveguide its works for lineair signals .

I receive Astra 19.2º E with such plate at a SL3K KA Directv lnb and with the other horn Turksat 42º E

    may be that's way I can't lock this transponder @ 24.8°W :37:

I use a Circular LNB to see a Liner Ka :77:

can you share with us how to make this extra dielectric plate ? :64:

  • Thank you very much Trust :70:

I can see that Spectrum s changed and polarisation is inverted :73:; the Liner-spectrum was the same whatever the position I put the plastic plate !

but no thing can be found yet with TBS5927 and TBS5521
