  • Although this topic is dedicated to East Africa spot, certainly not all transponders found by IQmonitor are from that area(?!).But I'm sure the high band are from the Middle East, because the signal is pretty strong on my area. And yet locking it is quite difficult with all the dvb applications that I have used. Of these, with IQmonitor and Crazyscan,I manages to lock the most transponders with the S2X extension.
    For NSS-12 I used the tbs6983 card for 10950-11700 MHz,and between 12500-12750 MHz the tbs6903X card.

I confess that I'm curious if another dx gets with the 6983 card the same transponders with the same parameters with IQmonitor when searching manually, especially on the Vertical polarity, and for High Band with the tbs6903X or tbs6909X card?

I am convinced that there are more active transponders with S2X extension in the upper band than the ones I found, but for that I have to have a bigger antenna than I have now.For example only now I managed to (re)lock 12659 H,3960,1/4 after a very long time, more precisely when I first discovered it in 2019.Perhaps the best placed geographically to check this is Kypros_Pambou,which as far as I know, I hope not to be wrong, has the 6903X card. But that doesn't mean that someone else doesn't try to check the upper band with the reception equipment and dvb devices that they have.

I think it's worth the effort for the reception of NSS-12,because of the spots outside the European area,is one of those satellite that should be a challenge for any dx.

    Thanks :3:

  • My scan with 2.1m
    Exist a carrier at 12605 H & 12667 without locking

Thanks for posting the spectrum at 57.0E in your area. It's obvious you have a stronger signal at this position than in my area.I wonder, though, why Crazyscan couldn't find and lock more transponders?

It is true that not always in auto search the application finds them, but now that we know which transponders are reported,it is recommended to activate them manually, such as at 12551H,3500,12640 H,932,12646 H,6070,etc,also at 12604 H,3800 and 12604 H,800.

It is true that discovering and locking the signal also depends on the search steps. This applies to all dvb card models, including tbs6903x.In the case of the 6903x card, when we already know that ultra fast scan is not provided,we,as users, must learn to use this card as a driver who knows his own car engine.

I would not want to go into detail about the technique of using Crazyscan or other dvb applications, which have to do with reception conditions, signal propagation, antenna size, weather, and even dvb cards, etc. That's what you learn along the way,if you use these apps a lot.And the chances of finding and locking a signal is favored,as is known, primarily by a large antenna. If I were you,I'd try to scan more times by setting different search steps each time, and if he doesn't find anything,I'd try to manually to lock the signal.

But next to Crazyscan,I'd also use IQmonitor. And,yes,I especially post the spectrum with this application,HR Spectrum Mode, because it's very good when you have to read the parameters and the problematic signal. It is true that when searching manually,IQmonitor gives errors/bugs. But I should write about this on @Strannik's topic.

In short,I would ask too much to try to scan again with both applications on high band at 57.0 E?

    Thanks in advance :3:

I await your result.I did high-band tests again today with other dvb cards(tbs6909X,6522,6983).As you can see,the best is tbs6909X, which knows how to handle the signal best but also because it has support for the s2X extension.Maybe it helps you, more indicatively,to lock more transponders.

By the way,I get the distinct impression that before a signal test, this position is more like a cards test that we use,no matter what we think ourself, amateurs or dxers.Of course we're lucky that these S2X extension transponders are for Data, whose signal is not required to be very strong.Even with weaker signal,we're still able to lock with 6903X/6909X cards. But I wonder, what would happen to have more S2X transponders with TV packages one after the other? However, only on this satellite do we have more transponders with this extension. But my question is for the future...

First time receiving this transponder(10985 H), it is true that the cold weather is also favorable.

I also show the high band transponders that I could lock.
