LNB LOF Vergleich

The incorrect or inaccurate frequency information has bothered me for a long time.

Unfortunately, a number of inquiries about the true transmission of the downlink remained unsuccessful.

At 19.2°E there are, but only for the Ku-band.

It is not so relevant in the C-band, but it is in the Ka-band, where 1 MHz can already mean a different transponder.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything regarding these frequency bands.

In the table below I have tested some LNBs with the IQMonitor.

The low level of the spectrum with the MTI's and also with the Invacom is striking.

Ultra Black and Bullseye were at the top, the Inverto PLL in between (no spectrum image)

The measurements were made with a 60 cm noname antenna, TBS5927 and scale factor 1.4.

The mean value of the lower and upper range of the respective band was calculated as the deviation.

The quad LNB differs only minimally at the four outputs (in the hundredth range), so it is not relevant.

  • To accurately measure the frequency, you need a quality PLL LNB. Best from NJR, NJS PLL TXCO. I compared several LNBs from NJR, with different production dates and the deviation from the correct frequency was only + - 1kHz. These LNBs, together with an accurate measuring device, also guarantee an accurate reading of the TP frequency. The data in the NIT tables are not always given correctly. Most error data is in the C band. For Ku you can use Astra at 19.2E. For C band 57.0E frequencies 3798.50R and 4059.80L. For these satellites, the NIT data are the same as measured.

The problem with the measurement deviation in SW IQmonitor, CrazyScan in my case is that when correcting in the middle of the band, the deviation is downwards by -0.53 MHz and upwards by +0.50 MHz. I don't know how to compensate and where the mistake is. In PC or satellite cards or in SW? ?:28:

Appendix: If you use a PC card for the measurement, it is also necessary to consider the frequency of the wire according to the temperature of the card. The cards do not have TXCO, just a normal crystal oscillator, and unfortunately even the PCs themselves no longer use TXCO.

Peon: Thanks for pointing out the C-band frequencies.

It's true that the deviation changes from the lowest to the highest frequency, but +-0.5?

I corrected this with the T90 and TBS6908 and the Fuba-Octo LNB aimed at Astra, it's not so cozy outdoors today.

In the left column the low band, on the right the high band with the standard setting 9750/10600 and the average changed reception frequency (low +0.700 MHz and high +0.835 MHz)

So I get +- 0.12 in the high band, the correction in the low band can be refined.

I want to rule out the tuner card. I would like to take a look at Crazyscan.

With Crazyscan, the smallest selection is 1 MHz

The frequency can be set in KHz with EBSpro, but changes the range depending on this.

EBSpro does not have the same deviations. The same settings used with the IQMonitor earlier resulted in larger deviations in the lower range and almost 0 in the upper range of the low Ku_band.

Optimum adjustment would also be around +- 0.1 here.

  • The problem seems to be in the programs.

We have to wait for the authors to fix it. :38:

  • I did a new measurement with LNB Bullseye. Astra 19,2E. Setting LO to the middle of the band, The deviation in the lower part of the frequency band is + 0.07 to + 0.1 MHz, and in the upper part -0.1 to -0.11 MHz.

  • I did the same test with the TBS5925 card.

After LO correction, the frequencies in the whole band are correct, without tilt. The maximum deviation from the correct frequency on some TPs was only 0.01MHz. :73:

It is clear that the TBS6983 card is causing the frequency tilt problem. Not the IQmonitor program.

    Thanks Yuri.:74:

It follows that TBS5925 is more suitable than TBS6983 for accurate measurement.:28:

  • hi femi, Peon

I wonder, if we use a gpsdo, for both lnb and pc card what will be the result ?

    p.s

it also depends on step size of demodulator:

    http://www.vivadatv.org/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=296

also this info from Jean-Pierre - F6DZP the author of Minitioune and Minitiouner explain the step size of demodulator.

    p.p.s

Some user did this mod(gpsdo) for C-band lnb:

    DVB Cards collector.

Hi, if you have a defective dvb card, with CY68013/SAA7160, STV6100/6110/6111/6120, STV0900/0903/0910/0913, please, do not throw away, contact me to add in my collection.

    Thank you. :150:

    I didn't try.:125:

The fact is that the more stable the oscillator frequency, the better it is for receiving stations with low SR and capturing even weaker transponders. The Bullseye 10kHz for Ku has worked very well for me. If the LTE internet interference is not in your position, then it is possible to use Titanium PLL for the C band.
