10.0°W Hellas Sat 2 (incl.)

    • Offizieller Beitrag

Finally I locked one in DVB-S2, TS on TBS 6903. I think same on others too... ´I` ve tried second one....

PS: Of course no new frequency, see other toppics from this position.

    /edit later: others...

  • I found and locked with tbs6903x and tbs6590 all transponders reported by EnoSat :3: and Qwer :3: at 10.0W.

I must add that the signal besides being weak, is also fluctuating. This makes the reception of Hellas Sat 2 even more complicated, I think not only in my area. And I say this by looking at Qwer's report, which has a stronger signal with his antenna but only gradually found and locked them.

And if I add that both polarities are used for the same frequency, then if they are not completely separated, then the noise in the useful signal increases. Probably this is another small difficulty for both frequencies to be locked.

With the 6983 cards, I managed to lock all transponders with the IQmonitor app although they use the S2X extension :73:

satesco I looked at the time variations on the 12.5-12.65GHz TPs. It's hard to separate the local atmospheric changes (thick cloud) from anything else. However, it does appear that there are random variations of around 2dB on all signals and a little more than that on the data signals at the top end. The variations are simultaneous on all 4 wide signals but vary between individual signals on the upper, non-continuous, data signals. The video in this post from yesterday shows the large variations in those signals. Maybe it's due to a difference in weather between the different uplink stations?

The plot below shows TP noise from 11.4 to 11.7GHz H. I did not record below 11.4 so I'm not certain about the lower edge. The beacon, the GS signal on 11475MHz and pulsed, narrow band signals around 11.66GHz can be seen. 11475 doesn't have a very nice shape (normalisation should have resulted in a reasonably flat RX response).

I earnestly ask you to set the Min level RF <= Noise Level parameter in the IQmonitor Pro program, otherwise the spectrum of useful signals is greatly distorted.

The apparent signal-to-noise ratio sharply decreases, the spectrum becomes dynamically inexpressive, and it becomes unobvious that the sensitivity with the IQmonitor Pro program is 1-3.4dB higher than that of the same receiving setup with the CrazyScan program.

Try to set Min level RF = Noise Level and display the RF spectra on the same scale in terms of signal power and frequency.

  • Thanks for the recommendation, but because the satellite, as you know, has a severe tilt and fluctuating signal and at a favorable time, I rushed to catch the signal which was slowly but surely dropping.

Knowing that the signal was only seen for a short period, I don't even know why I tested with IQmonitor. I was glad that I could find and lock this satellite's transponders.

For your application, it is good that the signal is reliable to get a conclusive result.

    I'm sorry you didn't hear me... :75:

I shell have to do software "fool protection" - nothing personal, this is a well-known technical idiomatic expression :28:

  • Nothing has changed in this position. The signal is a bit weak and fluctuating. That's why I haven't found a new transponder.

As you can see on the spectrum there are still two muxes in the upper band, but I can't lock them, and so I don't know what parameters they use. Probably the same as the other transponders.

I think they are all Data. It depends on which card and file are used.
