  • Using BWEI LNB L. O. :11.83Ghz (12.78GHz-13.28GHz) (opening scanning limit on crazyscan), I was able to receiver 2 frequencies on 120CM dish.

    13572 H 27500 DVB-S 5/6 (LNB 0° skew) Nilesat promotional channels.

    13553 V 27500 DVB-S 5/6 (LNB 90° skew) Educational channels + Nilesat promotional channels.

Polarizations seem to be correct because of the upper band frequencies have the same pol. NIT tables also may verify that the frequencies are correct.

I used the other BWEI LNB L. O.:12.8GHz (13.75-14.5) the signals were lower than the first one and frequency numbers were higher by 5MHz

I had a go from near London with an SMW Q-PLL type R (11.3GHz LO) on a 1.2m dish. The SMW has about 4dB NF at 13.5GHz. My guess is that those transponders are more than 25dB below threshold.

  • Considering the station name, you should look at the 16th-18th May, remember the date of Cabsat 2023.

If you don't specify the antenna size and the approximate location, posting is useless if it's about signal acquisition.

  • Interesting point about the cross-pol skew.

If you are using a Chinese LNB, do you know if the odd skew could be caused by the position of the probe in the extended Ku LNB?
Or, is the odd skew definitely coming from the Nilesat 301 satellite?

Is it possible that the signals could be circular polarity?

  • Is it possible that the signals could be circular polarity?

I could not see anything on 13598H at around 08:30 UTC today. The signals that I'm seeing appear to be within 10 degrees of nearby satellites but it is very difficult to get an accurate setting for the skew due to the low signal levels. I don't think that the ones I see are circular as I can null them.

Feedsat can you see anything on 13552V? Here is this morning's plot. I added some extra gain in the IF which gave a very small improvement compared to previous plots.

There is a difference between the 2 signals above. On 13572H I can see some fine detail on the SDR, looking in 1.5Hz, however it's not visible in 13552V despite it being stronger.

  • The LNB for this plot was an SMW 12.25-12.75GHz PLL which originally had an 11.3GHz LO but has been modified to an 11.75GHz LO. It's performance is marginally better than the SMW Q-PLL used for the previous Nilesat plot above. The dish is a Prodelin 3122 offset 1.2m.

Feedsat the thing I see as horizontal looks suspiciously like the peak you have. I think I had V & H the right way around but can never be sure!

  • the question is H or V ?

Many thanks for looking. I thought it was V and that agrees with my previous scan showing 13563. It's possible I got it wrong but i have changed the LNB/feed so can't check at the moment.

Feedsat I checked again as I had an SMW Q-PLL type R on the dish. It's not as good as the customised LNB but works well enough to check. It is vertical.
