FeedScanner Suite - Download, Setup & New Updates

  • πŸ“Œ TITLE: FeedScanner Suite – Python DVB Toolkit (The Project)

FeedScanner Suite: Professional analysis, open-source freedom, and a passion for extreme DXing.

FeedScanner Suite is a modern, fully open-source DVB toolkit developed in Python with a direct native integration to CrazyCat's legendary StreamReader.dll (C++). This specific technical approach allows developers and satellite enthusiasts to leverage the complete native API, ensuring high-performance execution, maximum flexibility, and full access to all capabilities of compatible tuners, completely bypassing any intermediate layers that could degrade performance.

The project was born to be free and modifiable by anyone, with the clear goal of encouraging the community to experiment and drive the technological evolution of the sector. It has been built by an enthusiast for enthusiasts, aiming to keep alive the spirit of sharing and innovation that has always defined the DVB world.

πŸ“‘ Main Features The FeedScanner Suite provides a comprehensive set of built-in utilities designed for advanced signal analysis:

    • Spectrum Analyzer: Full support for DVB-S/S2 and DVB-T/T2 architectures.
    • Blindscan (Sat & DTT): Engineered for feedhunting and automated transponder discovery.
    • DTT Analysis: Detailed insights into multiplex parameters, lock status, and transmission metrics.
    • Constellation Viewer: Accurate constellation plotting for precise modulation evaluation.
    • TS Stream Analysis & UDP Player: Professional-grade transport stream monitoring and live player hooks.
    • Modular Workflow: A fully flexible Python environment designed for custom scripting and automation.

πŸ•―οΈ A Tribute to CrazyCat The FeedScanner Suite is also created as a tribute to CrazyCat, the brilliant author of foundational tools like CrazyScan and the StreamReader.dll itself. His outstanding contribution has enabled an entire generation of enthusiasts to explore satellite signals like never before. This project follows closely in his footsteps: free, open, and shared, ensuring that his technical legacy continues to thrive through the community.

πŸ“– The Story: A Project Born out of Passion FeedScanner Suite started as a personal experiment based on a simple idea: bringing back innovation, freedom, and raw experimentation to the DVB world by using modern tools and an accessible language like Python.

For years, the community relied on historic tools that, while excellent, often remained static or closed-source. The core question that sparked this journey was: "What would happen if I brought StreamReader into the modern world, making it accessible, scriptable, and completely open to everyone?"

πŸ› οΈ Technical Vision: Direct Native Integration The primary engineering challenge was interfacing directly with the C++ StreamReader.dll from within Python, without relying on heavy external wrappers or slow data conversions. This required an intensive and complex development process:

    • Deep analysis of native APIs.
    • Direct handling of complex C++ structures.
    • Low-level native function calls.
    • Manual memory management of buffers and pointers.
    • Extreme performance optimization.

The result is a rare and sophisticated approach that achieves processing speeds very close to native C++, while maintaining the immense flexibility of Python. To date, there are no known public projects adopting this direct integration method.

πŸ’‘ Project Philosophy The FeedScanner Suite was not built to compete, but to unlock the technology. It is an open invitation to developers, beta testers, and feedhunters alike: study it, extend it, and make it better.

    • Completely Free
    • Fully Open-Source
    • Modifiable by anyone
    • Fully documented and designed to grow

Note on AI Teamwork: Although I am not a professional programmer by trade, I utilized Artificial Intelligence as a technical co-pilot to help decipher the logic of the original drivers and successfully translate it into a modern, responsive working environment.

  • πŸ“Œ TITLE: FeedScanner Suite – Download, Setup & New Updates: Everything you need to get started

Welcome to the central hub of the FeedScanner Suite. This section contains the "Base Container" (Framework): the core backbone of the entire ecosystem. There is no need to install anything on your operating system; I have structured the package to be completely portable and self-contained.

βš™οΈ 1. QUICK START GUIDE (Configuration) Setting up the base takes only a few minutes. Follow these steps for a professional setup:

Mandatory Placement: Extract the content of the ZIP file directly into the root directory of your C: drive.

    • Exact final path: C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite
    • Warning: Ensure you don't create double subfolders (e.g., C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\Feed_Scanner_Suite\), otherwise the system will not find the required files.

    The Engine "Under the Hood":

    • The Suite utilizes an isolated environment (python32/), which will not conflict with any other Python versions installed on your PC.
    • GOLDEN RULE: Do not modify, update, or replace any files inside the python32, ffmpeg, tsduck folders, or the StreamReader.dll. These are tested and specific versions selected for maximum tuner stability.

Custom Configuration (App Paths): Each application within the Suite is autonomous. To configure external software like VLC or TSReader (if installed in custom paths), you need to modify the specific .cfg file of each tool:

    • Where to find it: Inside the folder of each specific tool (e.g., C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\app_name\config_scanner.cfg).
    • How to proceed: 1. Open the tool's .cfg file with Notepad. 2. Look for the vlc_path and tsreader_path entries. 3. Insert the correct path where your software is installed. 4. Save the file.
    • Note: Do not alter other parameters within these files to avoid startup errors.

πŸš€ 2. LAUNCHING APPLICATIONS Once the folder is correctly placed, the system is ready to use. You have two ways to launch your apps:

Quick Method: You can launch each application individually using the .bat file found inside the folder of each specific tool.

Centralized Launcher: Alternatively, you can use Suite_Control_Center.exe to manage and launch all applications from a single interface.

    • Note: For full details on how to get the most out of the Launcher, configure custom buttons, and manage privileges, please consult our advanced guide: [Link to Tutorial/Updates Post].

    πŸ“₯ DOWNLOAD:

    Feed_Scanner_Suite - 17/08/2026 Complete Installation

To make the installation and configuration of the entire environment as simple, fast, and secure as possible, I have prepared and uploaded the complete package of the Feed_Scanner_Suite framework.

Inside this "All-in-One" archive, you will find everything needed for the proper operation of the ecosystem already included and pre-configured:

    • The 32-bit runtime architecture and ctypes wrappers for low-level hardware management.
    • Drivers, libraries, and the correct version of StreamReader.dll with its corresponding configuration files.
    • All software, auxiliary tools, codecs, and players (Python 32 and 64-bit, FFmpeg, MPV, TSDuck, etc.) synchronized and ready to use.
    • All suite applications updated to the latest stable version available as of today.

This way, you won't have to search for or download individual components and dependencies one by one, avoiding file conflicts, incorrect paths, or configuration issues.

Installation and handling of future updates

The suite must be extracted and placed exactly in the root path: C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\.

This package represents the complete and updated baseline as of today. If new updates or new versions of individual applications (e.g., new executables or .py scripts) are released in the future, you will not need to re-download the entire archive: simply download the new version of the application and paste it directly into the C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\ folder, exactly as you have always done.

Since every new release includes its own version number in the file name, different versions can safely coexist inside the same directory without overwriting one another, allowing you to keep and use both previous and newer releases.

Below is the list of releases for the various applications:

  • πŸ“Œ TITLE: FeedScanner Suite – App Library: Download, Version Management & Extensibility

Welcome to the module library of the FeedScanner Suite. Here you will find all the individual tools (Frequency Tester, Analyzer, etc.) that you can add to your base framework.

βš™οΈ 1. "PORTABLE & INDEPENDENT" PHILOSOPHY Each application in the suite has been developed to be a completely autonomous unit.

Zero Conflicts: Each module contains all the necessary libraries and dependencies required to function. This means the applications do not interact with one another and do not modify the system files of the base framework.

Multiple Versions: It is never necessary to uninstall or overwrite a previous version to install a new one. You can keep 10 different versions of the same app installed simultaneously on the same drive (e.g., Frequency_Tester_v1, Frequency_Tester_v2, etc.) without any of them conflicting with each other.

"Zero" Installation: To add a new app, simply copy the downloaded folder into the C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\ path. Nothing else.

πŸš€ 2. HOW TO MANAGE YOUR APPLICATIONS Since each app is independent, you can organize your workspace exactly how you prefer:

Download: Download the desired module. Extraction: Extract the folder inside C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\. Launch: You can run each specific version by clicking the .bat file located inside its dedicated folder. Cleanup: If you decide an old version is no longer needed, simply delete its folder. No "leftovers" will remain in the Windows registry or the base framework.

πŸ“₯ 3. MODULE LIBRARY (Download & Version History) Below is the list of available tools. Each entry contains the application name and its related release data on a single line.

  • πŸ“˜ Super Simple User Manual - Suite Control Center v1.7 (English)

    Author: PantaSat

What it is: A single, unified dashboard to access all your satellite reception software with just one click.

πŸ“Œ Important Premise: How the suite apps are designed

As many of you know, inside their respective folders, each of my applications contains a dedicated .bat file. This file is used to launch the program while keeping the black console active, allowing you to see logs in real time and immediately catch any loading errors or crashes.

The issue arises as your technical setup expands: if you are tired of cluttering your desktop with thousands of different shortcuts, or having to manually browse into individual folders every time just to find and launch the correct .bat file, the Control Center was born specifically for this. It acts as a "universal switchboard" to clear the chaos once and for all.

    1. What is it used for?

The Control Center allows you to centralize your entire feedhunting arsenal into a clean and professional interface, without requiring you to touch a single line of code to add your favorite programs.

    Quote

Note on 32-bit Python: Inside the suite folder, there is a special, isolated 32-bit version of Python. It is required to run legacy satellite card drivers and specific DLLs without conflicting with any Python version you already have installed on your PC. It handles everything automatically; you don't need to configure anything.

    2. Tab Breakdown (The 3 Tabs)

    • Tools: This is your main dashboard containing the quick-launch buttons. When you click a button, the Control Center automatically hides so it doesn't clutter your screen, and reappears instantly as soon as you close the app you were using. Hovering your mouse over any button triggers a ToolTip showing its exact file path.
    • Config: This is where you create or delete buttons. It features a dropdown menu to select saved tools for editing/removal, and empty fields to add brand-new ones.
    • Activity Log: A black terminal console that displays background operations. If a script closes or crashes, you will see the precise time and the error reason here, allowing you to troubleshoot instantly.

    3. How to Add a Program (Step-by-Step Guide)

Adding a software or a script takes just a few steps. Let's look at two practical examples to quickly understand which option to choose:

Example A: Adding a suite script (e.g., Frequency Tester v4.5)

    1. Go to the Config tab and click New / Clear to reset the text fields.

    2. In Button Name, type: Frequency Tester v4.5.
    3. In File Path, click the three dots (...) and select the script file (e.g., Frequency_Tester_v4.5.py).
    4. Special Note for Launch Options: Since this program belongs to my suite, it strictly requires the internal 32-bit engine to interface with satellite drivers and DLLs. Therefore, you must select Python 32-bit (Suite).

    5. Click the Save / Update button located at the bottom right to permanently save the configuration inside the suite.

    6. The system will automatically return you to the main dashboard: switch to the Tools tab, and you will see your brand-new button appear in the grid, ready to be clicked.

Example B: Adding an external program or a 64-bit script (e.g., CrazyScan or VMA)

    1. Click New / Clear again.
    2. In Button Name, enter the software name (e.g., CrazyScan or VMA Script).
    3. In File Path, click the three dots (...) and select the file (e.g., CrazyScan.exe or your VMA .py script).
    4. Selecting the execution engine under Launch Options:
      • If you are adding a standard standalone program (like CrazyScan, EBS Pro, DVB Dream, SmartDVB, etc.), select Direct Executable (.exe).
      • If you are adding a specific external script, such as a VMA script written in 64-bit, remember that it must NOT use the internal suite engine, but your PC's global engine. In this specific case, select Python 64-bit (System).

Advanced Logging and Permissions (Bottom Options)

    • If the program or script you are adding strictly requires elevated Windows privileges to run, check the Run as Administrator box (otherwise, leave it empty, and it will launch normally).
    • If you want the application to open showing its native log window (exactly as if you were launching its original .bat file from its folder to view errors instantly on screen), simply check the Show Console (Debug) box.

Finally, click Save / Update. Return to the Tools tab, and your brand-new button is ready to go! The software prevents any duplicates or conflicts, and you can rename or update buttons whenever you want.

    4. Directory Structure on your PC

The entire application operates inside its main folder, ensuring no files are scattered across Windows:

    • C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\ β†’ Main suite directory.
    • python32\ β†’ Internal engine for 32-bit scripts.
    • data\suite_control_center\ β†’ Contains config.txt (where button paths are saved), the logo, and the icon.
    • suite_control_center.exe β†’ The main compiled executable binary to launch.

    5. Open Source & 100% Safe

I wrote this program in Python, and it is fully Open Source. This means the source code is completely free, transparent, and open for anyone to read, inspect, or modify to fit their workflow.

Because of this, if you don't feel comfortable running the compiled .exe file, you don't have to! You can safely launch the dashboard by running the Suite_Control_Center.bat file instead. This will run the raw source script (Suite_Control_Center.py) directly, giving you peace of mind and total transparency.

If you want to tweak the button layout, change the UI design, or package it into your own custom archive, you are entirely free to take the code and modify it as you please!

  • Hi Apsattv ,

While GitHub is a great platform, there is absolutely no rule saying you need GitHub to share an open-source project. Everyone is free to release their work wherever they want, and I decided to do it right here on this forum.

As you can see in the detailed User Manual I have just published above, the raw, fully uncompiled source code (Suite_Control_Center.py) is already included inside the folder. I honestly hope this documentation helps you finally understand how the Control Center actually works under the hood.

I develop this suite strictly as a hobby for fun. Nobody pays me. If I have the free time to update it and share it with the community, I do it. Instead of wasting time overcomplicating things or creating unnecessary arguments, anyone who genuinely wants to contribute can simply study the code locally, tweak it, and share their file right here, just like I do.

To be honest, I’ve already wasted enough time on this discussion today. The updated v1.7 and the guide are up, feel free to check them out!

  • πŸ’‘ BONUS: How to Create a Desktop Shortcut for the Launcher Without the Annoying Administrator Prompt (English)

If you are tired of clicking "Yes" on the Windows User Account Control (UAC) security prompt every time you launch the Suite_Launcher, you can use the Windows Task Scheduler to create a "clean" shortcut that bypasses the prompt while retaining the elevated administrative privileges required by BDA/PCI-SAT drivers:

    1. Search for "Task Scheduler" in the Windows Start menu and open it.
    2. In the right-hand column, click on "Create Task..." (Note: do not click "Create Basic Task").
    3. General Tab: Name the task exactly as follows, without spaces: Suite_Launcher. At the bottom of the tab, check the crucial box: "Run with highest privileges".
    4. Actions Tab: Click "New...". Under Action, leave it as "Start a program". Under Program/script, click "Browse" and navigate to the main file: C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\suite_launcher.exe. Click OK, then OK again to save the task.
    5. Now, go to your Desktop. Right-click an empty space $\rightarrow$ New $\rightarrow$ Shortcut.
    6. In the location box, copy and paste this exact string:

      DOS

schtasks /run /tn "Feed Scanner Suite"

      7. Click Next, name the shortcut **"Feed Scanner Suite"** (or any name you prefer), and click **Finish**.
      Β  Β

      8. *(Optional Aesthetic Step)*: Right-click the new shortcut rightarrow **Properties** Change Icon...**, and browse to the official suite icon at this path: `C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\data\suite_launcher\favicon.ico`.

Now, by double-clicking this desktop icon, the Suite will open instantly with all necessary administrative privileges active, without Windows ever interrupting you with a warning screen again!

  • 🎭 Chronicles of a desperate (but stubborn) developer

In the last few days, I’ve lived through one of those adventures that, if you tell a non-techie about, they look at you like you’re talking about black magic. πŸ§™β€β™‚οΈ I, on the other hand, was there in my digital lab, fighting against the TBS Universal like a medieval knight against a dragon spitting MPEG packets. πŸ‰πŸ’»

Chapter 1 β€” The illusion of the naive man

The initial idea was simple: β€œI’ll take the logic from the Frequency Tester and put it into the Signal Analyzer. Easy.” πŸ’‘

Spoiler: it wasn’t easy. ❌ Actually, it was the IT equivalent of trying to transplant a Ferrari engine into a bicycle. 🚲➑️🏎️

Chapter 2 β€” Organized chaos (not really)

Multistream that worked only when it felt like it. πŸ“‰ Streaming that started only if the moon was in trigone with Jupiter. πŸŒ•βœ¨ Low SRs that I could lock blindfolded on the Frequency Tester, but in the Signal Analyzer seemed like metaphysical entities. πŸ‘»

In the meantime, I started talking to the monitor. πŸ—£οΈ And the monitor didn’t answerβ€”the rude thing. πŸ–₯οΈπŸ™„

Chapter 3 β€” CSI: DVB Edition

At that point, I did what any normal person would do. Nothing. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ But I’m not normal, so I did something absurd:

πŸ‘‰ I created an app to analyze the sequence of commands sent by the Frequency Tester to the StreamReader, so I could compare them with those of the Signal Analyzer. πŸ”

A sort of "black box" for DVB. ⬛ A packet analyzer… but not MPEG packets, analyzer of my own errors. πŸ“

Now, someone might say: β€œEh, but that’s because you’re not a pro.” 🧐 And maybe that’s true. But in the end, it’s like this: when you don’t understand, you invent tools to understand. πŸ› οΈ

    And it works. βœ…

Chapter 4 β€” The mystical enlightenment

After hours of comparing commands, differences, timings, and parameters… enlightenment strikes. πŸ’‘βš‘

One of those moments that make you almost stand up and say: β€œSo, I really am an idiot!” 🀑

Because I was trying to replicate a perfect engine… when I could have simply reused it as is. πŸ”„

Chapter 5 β€” The Ferrari under the Panda

So I did the most logical thing in the world: I left the Frequency Tester's engine untouched and built a new body that looks like the Signal Analyzer, but is a beast underneath. 🦁

    Result?

SR below 500? Instant lock. 🎯

    The infamous 12605 V from 5W? Locked as if it were a 27500. πŸ›°οΈ

Stable streaming on all DVB cards? Yes, thanks. πŸ“ˆ

Chapter 6 β€” The future is modular

The best part? 🀩 Now the tuning module is external, like DiSEqC. πŸ”Œ Every new app will be able to use it without rewriting a thing. πŸ—οΈ No more trial and error, no more mysterious bugs, no more swearing in dead languages. 🚫🀬

Just stability, perfect locks, and clean streaming. ✨

Epilogue β€” The moral of the story

Sometimes, in software development, the solution is so simple you just don’t see it. πŸ‘οΈ If you already have a Ferrari, you don’t need to build another one: you just need to change the bodywork. πŸ’…

And now that everything works, I can finally tell this epic tale with a smile… 🍻 and with a few photos that bear witness to the war fought. πŸ“Έβš”οΈ

  • CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS: MANDATORY COMPONENTS TO INSTALL for TBS Universal v7.6

To ensure seamless interaction between the core tuning engine and external video modulesβ€”preventing crashes and guaranteeing maximum stream stabilityβ€”you must install the following two components on your PC, placing them exactly in the specified directories:

    Python 64-bit – [Download Link]

    • Purpose: Required to handle independent background processes and advanced interactivity without freezing the main user interface.
    • Mandatory Installation Path: C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\Python64

    MPV 64-bit – [Download Link]

    • Purpose: The standalone graphics engine used to render the new dynamic, movable Live Mosaic window.
    • Mandatory Installation Path: C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\mpv64

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE ON TSREADER PRO & LIVE MOSAIC

    • TSReader Path Update: Please note that starting with this release, the .cfg configuration file is set to point directly to TSReaderPro. You can download and install the application into its default directory from the official website: https://tsreader.co.uk/
    • Using Live Mosaic inside TSReaderPro: If you want to use the native Live Mosaic feature integrated directly within TSReaderPro, a specific, legacy version of VLC is requiredβ€”specifically VLC v1.1.9.
      • You can download the dedicated installer here: [VLC 1.1.9 Download Link]
      • This specific VLC version can be installed in any directory on your PC.
      • Once VLC v1.1.9 is installed, remember that you must manually configure the path to vlc.exe directly within the TSReaderPro settings menus.

    PantaSat 2026

  • Nobody should be installing a 15 year old version of VLC, that is completely insecure. I would suggest you need to make adjustments to lose that requirement.

  • Hi Apsattv,

I think there is a misunderstanding here.

The requirement for VLC v1.1.9 is not my personal choice, nor is it a limitation of my software.

It is the official, mandatory requirement set by COOL.STF (the developers of TSReader Professional) to make their native "Live Mosaic" feature work. As clearly stated in the official TSReader documentation:

    πŸ”— https://tsreader.co.uk/tsrsupport/tsrsupport/vlcmosaic.html

    Quote

"VLC is currently at version 3 [...] However the VLC developers have broken the mosaic function in this version. In order for the mosaic function to operate correctly, VLC version 1.1 needs to be installed..."

I simply provided a detailed, step-by-step guide to save users time, explaining how to run the legacy version safely in a separate, isolated directory alongside the modern, secure VLC v3 (which TSReader still uses for single-stream playback).

By the way, my suite already implements its own, modern custom mosaic streaming solutions that do not rely on 15-year-old software. But since my goal is to provide a complete toolkit, I wanted to document how to unlock TSReader's built-in features for those who still want to use them.

Next time, before criticizing my release notes, I suggest you take a look at the official support pages of the software we are discussing. πŸ˜‰

    Regards,

  • Yes sorry i missread it

Actually I might run Claude over it and see if tsreader simply uses a script for the mosaic function. It may be easy to get it compatible with the current versions of vlc

Paid for tsreader pro many years ago.

  • Hello Apsattv,

No need to apologize at all, misreadings happen to everyone, especially when discussing complex technical setups!

Regarding TSReader and VLC, your point about using Claude to analyze how TSReader generates its mosaic is extremely interesting. Historically, TSReader’s mosaic feature has been strictly tied to VLC version 1.1.19, and I am convinced this choice was made due to a combination of very specific factors:

    1. The VLM (VideoLAN Manager) Architecture: TSReader relies on VLC's built-in VLM engine to control, route, and tile multiple incoming streams dynamically into a single interface. In the 1.1.x branch of VLC, the VLM module was incredibly robust when accepting raw UDP inputs via command line arguments and local .vlm configuration files.
    2. The Post-2.0 VLC Rewrite: When VideoLAN transitioned to VLC 2.0 and subsequent versions, the entire threading model and video rendering pipelines (Direct3D/OpenGL) were completely overhauled. This major rewrite made adapting or migrating the old, dynamically generated VLM files to modern VLC versions extremely difficultβ€”and in some multi-tuner/high-bitrate environments, virtually impossible without causing instant Access Violations or severe memory leaks.
    3. Internal PC Loopback vs. Web Security: I know some users are concerned that running such an outdated version of VLC like 1.1.19 might expose their systems to security vulnerabilities (like malware or ransomware). However, in our specific use case, this risk is practically non-existent. The older VLC instance is used strictly for local internal loopback traffic (on 127.0.0.1 or private multicast ranges) to process the TS data directly from the tuner card. Since the stream comes directly from the satellite transponder and not from shady web links, there is no external vector for an attack. For daily web-based streaming or playing downloaded files, using the latest, fully updated VLC version is obviously the correct path.

Actually, this is the path where TSReader Pro generates on the fly the .vlm file to feed into VLC: %LocalAppData%\Temp\TSReaderMain.vlm

Below is a practical example of its contents if you want to analyze and study how it structures the layout TSReaderMain.vlm:

    Snippet di codice

Speaking of mosaic reliability and software accuracy, I would also like to share a test I performed on Hispasat (30.0Β°W) at 10769 H using my suite. The tuner locked the transponder instantly, launching TSReader’s video mosaic function perfectly in loopback:

Thanks again for your support and for this great technical exchange!

  • PantaMosaic v1.0 - Stable Replacement for the VLC Mosaic in TSReaderPro

    Hello everyone,

after a brief negative experience with the mosaic function in TSReaderPro using VLC, I decided to fix it once and for all.

The built-in mosaic in TSReaderPro relies on VLC 1.1.19, a version from 2010 that really shows its age, especially on complex transponders.

    The Problem

Anyone using TSReaderPro for transponder analysis knows the limitations of the integrated mosaic:

    • Crashes as soon as you open more than 2-3 streams
    • Doesn't support H.264/HEVC properly
    • Fails on multistream (MIS) transponders
    • Leaves orphan processes that block UDP ports

The worst case? MIS (Multiple Input Stream) transponders like those on 9.0E or 5.0W: VLC 1.1.19 opens the mosaic and dies after 2 seconds, leaving the stream running but with no video.

    The Solution: PantaMosaic

I wrote PantaMosaic, a complete replacement that:

    • Uses MPV (modern, stable, high-performance player)
    • Reads the TSReaderMain.vlm file generated by TSReaderPro
    • Opens one MPV window for each UDP stream
    • Handles audio, fullscreen, and aspect ratio
    • Automatically restarts MPV processes if they crash
    • Kills all processes on exit (no orphaned processes!)

    Why It's Better

    FeatureVLC 1.1.19PantaMosaic
Stability❌ Frequently crashesβœ… Solid and reliable
    Codec SupportMPEG-2 onlyβœ… H.264, HEVC, VP9, etc.
    Multistream (MIS)❌ Crashesβœ… Perfectly stable
    AudioYesβœ… Yes (per-channel toggle)
    FullscreenNoβœ… Yes (double-click)
    Aspect RatioNoβœ… Yes (right-click)
    Auto-restartNoβœ… Yes
Orphan Processes❌ Yesβœ… Full cleanup on exit

    Demo Video

MIS Transponder 9.0E - where VLC 1.1.19 crashes immediately:

    The video shows:

    1. Starting the mosaic with VLC 1.1.19 β†’ crashes in 2 seconds
    2. Starting the mosaic with PantaMosaic β†’ stable, 16 streams visible
    3. Audio toggle, fullscreen, and grid restoration test

    Why I Made It

TSReaderPro is an exceptional tool for transponder analysis, but its mosaic has been stuck 15 years in the past.

With PantaMosaic, anyone into satellite DXing finally has a truly functional and stable mosaic, even on the most complex transponders.

Once the final tests are completed, I will release the public version for everyone.

    PantaSat - 2026

  • PantaMosaic v1.0 - VLC Mosaic Replacement for TSReaderPro

Finally, a modern and stable mosaic for TSReaderPro!

    What is PantaMosaic

PantaMosaic is a complete replacement for the VLC 1.1.19 mosaic built into TSReaderPro, designed to offer:

    • Stability even on complex transponders (MIS, T2-MI, H.264/HEVC)
    • Independent audio per window (toggle with πŸ”‡/πŸ”Š)
    • Fullscreen (double-click) and aspect ratio (right-click)
    • Automatic restart of players if they crash
    • No orphan processes on exit

Who it's for: anyone using TSReaderPro for transponder analysis and satellite DXing who wants a mosaic that actually works.

    Installation

    1. Download the package:
    2. Extract the folder wherever you like.

Recommended: install it in C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\PantaMosaic\ to keep it integrated with the suite, but you can put it anywhere you prefer.

      The final structure will be:

      text

      Code
      C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\PantaMosaic\
      β”œβ”€β”€ PantaMosaic.exe
      └── mpv64\
          └── mpv.exe

    Configuration in TSReaderPro

To use PantaMosaic instead of the old VLC, follow these steps:

    1. Open TSReaderPro
    2. Go to Playback β†’ VLC β†’ Settings
    3. In the "VLC Path" field, enter the full path to PantaMosaic.exe, for example:

      Code
      C:\Feed_Scanner_Suite\PantaMosaic\PantaMosaic.exe
    4. Click OK and save

Now, when you activate the mosaic from TSReaderPro, PantaMosaic will launch instead of the old VLC.

Usage with Signal Analyzer and Multistream

PantaMosaic integrates perfectly with Signal Analyzer for handling multistream (MIS) transponders.

    Workflow:

    1. Tune the frequency with Signal Analyzer (Direct Tune or Blind Scan)
    2. Select the desired MIS from the Multistream dropdown menu
    3. Open TSReaderPro and activate the mosaic (now using PantaMosaic)
    4. You will see the channels of the selected MIS in the mosaic

    Changing MIS (without retuning):

    ⚠️ IMPORTANT: DO NOT RESCAN!

When the frequency is already locked:

    1. Stop streaming and close TSReaderPro
    2. Select the new MIS from the Signal Analyzer dropdown menu
    3. Reopen TSReaderPro and activate the mosaic

The new MIS will be loaded automatically and displayed in the mosaic, without having to retune or rescan anything.

This makes zapping between different streams on the same transponder extremely fast and seamless.

    General Usage

    • Audio: click πŸ”‡/πŸ”Š to toggle audio on a window (only one at a time)
    • Fullscreen: double-click on a cell
    • Exit fullscreen: double-click on the fullscreen cell (or press ESC)
    • Aspect Ratio: right-click β†’ choose AUTO, 16:9 or 4:3

    Requirements

    • Windows 7/8/10/11
    • TSReaderPro (any recent version)
    • No external dependencies (Python, VLC, FFmpeg)

StreamLauncher for TSReaderPro v1.0 by PantaSat - Choose your player for streaming from TSReaderPro!

After releasing PantaMosaic, the mosaic replacement for TSReaderPro, I've created a new tool that makes streaming even more flexible.

    What is StreamLauncher

StreamLauncher intercepts the HTTP stream generated by TSReaderPro and lets you choose which player to use.

    Currently supported players:

    • 🎬 VLC (default)
    • 🎬 PotPlayer (great for UHD)
    • 🎬 MPV (lightweight and stable)
    • 🎬 FFplay (for quick testing)

    Why it's useful

Not all players handle all streams the same way. For example, on some UHD streams VLC may freeze, while PotPlayer or MPV handle them smoothly. With StreamLauncher, you have the freedom to choose the player that works best for you.

    How it works

    1. To start, double-click on the thumbnail of the channel/stream in TSReaderPro
    2. Instead of launching VLC directly, StreamLauncher opens with 4 player options
    3. Choose your preferred player
    4. The stream starts with your selected player
    5. You can stop it anytime with the STOP button

If you close the player from its window (clicking the X), StreamLauncher detects it and automatically cleans up the process. No orphan processes!

Give me one more day to test everything, then I'll release it publicly.
