I see all your helpful posts and decided to post on your wall.
Currently in Stuttgart Germany trying to acquire a C band signal from Eutelsat 10B. Specifically the Uganda mux at 3850 Mhz.
I'm using
2.4 meter dish from CPI sat (part number 1252-5080)
LNB from Swedish microwave 3.4-4.2Ghz (part number 636190)
Coax multi-switch amplifier from Kathrein (part number 20510026)
Coax muli-switch from Katherein (part number 20510011)
Media star LAN-Caster for streaming DVB-S2 (part number 784-S2)
For the life of me I cannot get a C/N ratio greater than 8.8. I am worried about terrestrial interference from 5g WiMax ect. Could this be causing my issues in signal quality or is it likely something else?
I have thought about a stronger amplifier but suspect that would amplify my noise as well as the signal.
I also thought about some sort of waveguide before the LNB to filter out unwanted frequencies.
If others are able to receive the signal form Eutelsat 10b without a waveguide filter or strong amplifier maybe I am just misallied to the bird.
Thank you so much for the info. that is unfortunate I will need a larger dish but I very glad to know now.
I am getting a lock and seeing the channels on my TSB-5580
using crazy scan and VLC
unfortunately the MediaStar requires above 9db at least to steam. I am very surprised at my signal is as high as it is but the dishes are on a platform elevated to about 50ft (15m) which I am sure helps
